The EPLO implements a large number of programs funded by the European Union and other international donors, assisting governments and institutions around the world. The main areas of intervention comprise: governance, the rule of law, human rights, public administration, democratization, legislative approximation to the EU acquis, migration and sustainable development. The position is located within the Dept. of Technical co-operation of EPLO. The candidate will be involved in the HORIZON Europe Project “Nutrient balance and Resource Optimization in Regional Ecosystems through holistic, sustainable, and zero-pollution solutions” – GREENHOOD.

GREENHOOD main objective is to demonstrate an effective approach to re-balance nutrient flows and reduce Nitrogen and Phosphorous emissions, in line with the upcoming EU Integrated Nutrient Management Action Plan (INMAP) and in accordance with the strategic documents of the EU’s Biodiversity Strategy, the Farm to Fork Strategy, the Zero Pollution Action Plan, and the Blue Economy strategy. Through targeted efforts in regional hotspots, guided by robust nutrient budgeting methodologies, and collaborative testing of diverse innovations with regional stakeholders, GREENHOOD aims to pave the way for societies to operate within safe ecological boundaries while satisfying socioeconomic needs. Five countries (Spain, Netherlands-Belgium, Norway, and Finland) will be participating in four demonstrators, each representing different cases of unbalanced regions and focusing on diverse emitting hotspots, including both diffuse and point-based emitting sectors.

Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to:

  • support the identification of regional needs and matching governance innovations
  • support the analysis and testing of novel governance models
  • contribute to the design of a governance lab methodology and participatory approach
  • assist in the development of societal acceptance studies
  • assist in the development of policy briefs
  • support the project advocacy activities

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University of engineering or environmental studies degree from an accredited academic institution

Experience

  • At least 8 years of professional experience in projects (co-)funded by the European Union related to sustainable green and blue growth and circular economy
  • 4 years’ experience in living labs & co-creation methodologies with stakeholders and events’ organization
  • Experience in networking with stakeholders in green growth, blue growth and sustainable innovation
  • Experience in the creation of policy briefs, policy papers.  

Languages

  • Fluency (oral and written) in English

  • Team Management and Leadership Skills: Capable of promptly and effectively monitoring, coordinating and communicating strategic objectives.
  • Professionalism: Knowledge and understanding of concepts and approaches relevant to particular functional area. Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, take initiative, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments and achieving results.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication, writing and presentation skills. Listening and communicating clearly and effectively, adapting delivery to audience.
  • Planning and Organizing: Setting clear and achievable goals consistent with agreed priorities for self and others.
